About the Project

The Western Washington Company was awarded the bid for this project, but their first day on site they realized they did not have the equipment, personnel or golf course experience to complete the work. Because of Apex’s long history of golf course grassing and hydroseeding experience, owner John Larson was immediately called and asked if he would take over the contract. Apex flew a private plane to the project that afternoon, negotiated the contract, and had a team on site in three days.

Challenges

The project site was all sand, which required trucks to be pulled everywhere by D-6 Cats. The job also required Apex to pull hundreds of feet of hose to ensure the finished contoured surfaces would not be damaged. Continuous quality control was also required to achieve accurate seed and mulch application rates in the sandy soil.

How We Solved It

Apex provided a skilled workforce that was willing to work long hours and follow strict application rates to produce consistent grass. Equipment was maintained daily so work could continue uninterrupted. Apex also had the skillset to hydroseed all of the greens on the project, ensuring that all 265 acres were finished on time.
